"The Miracle in Miami: A Game for the Ages"

On December 8, 1985, the Miami Dolphins faced off against the New England Patriots in what would become one of the most memorable games in NFL history. With only 58 seconds remaining on the clock and the Dolphins trailing 28-24, the fate of the game seemed all but sealed. However, what followed next would go down in football folklore as The Miracle in Miami.

Quarterback Dan Marino, one of the league's greatest ever, led the Dolphins down the field, pulling off a series of miraculous plays that had fans on the edge of their seats. The drive culminated in a 29-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mark Duper with just seconds remaining on the clock. But the drama was far from over.

Rather than kicking the extra point and sending the game into overtime, Dolphins head coach Don Shula made the gutsy call to go for two points and the win. Marino dropped back again, this time finding wide receiver Mark Clayton at the back of the end zone for the decisive score, sending the Miami crowd into raptures and securing the win for the Dolphins.

The game was filled with incredible individual performances, including Marino's 404 passing yards and three touchdowns, and the Patriots' Irving Fryar's three incredibly acrobatic touchdown catches. But it was the dramatic final drive, capped off by the bold decision to go for two, that ensured this game would go down in the annals of NFL history.
